Cross Specialty SuppoRTT Webinar 

The next Cross Specialty RTT Webinar for returning trainees from Wessex, Thames Valley and the South West is taking place next Friday, 15 January. This webinar will offer practical tips on managing your return to training and the opportunity to network with other returning trainees and the SuppoRTT team.

The programme will cover:
- an introduction to the Supported Return to Training programme
- what is on offer in your region
- managing HR-related matters
- wellbeing for returning trainees

- returning to training during the Covid-19 pandemic 

- a panel discussion with members of the SuppoRTT team

Productivity at Home for OOPR Trainees 

The next 'Productivity at Home' event for OOPR Trainees will be taking place on 28 January 2021. This event is open to all trainees who are currently out-of-programme for research.

As you prepare for your return to training we’d like to offer you the chance to kickstart, get your focus back and learn how to beat procrastination with a professional coach. Make a commitment to get on with that research project, finish that assignment, sort out your portfolio, or complete that audit.

The day includes the opportunity to:

• Spend over 3 hours working on your project and achieving real productivity success

• Learn a number of techniques to help you keep on track

• Learn how to identify powerful thought patterns that will help you set achievable goals for your day  

• Leave with a study routine you can use after the course and maintain your productivity momentum.

The event will be facilitated by Dr Katy R Mahoney, a qualified performance and development coach with over 16 years experience in training and development in the UK and the EU. She will guide you through a day of productivity to ensure you leave feeling empowered, motivated and able to continue to make progress on your projects.

SuppoRTT for doctors returning to work in the pandemic -  Knowledge Refreshers

A series of knowledge refresher webinars for doctors who are coming back from a break from clinical practice into an unprecedented and uncertain period of clinical work.  All of the sessions are recorded and can be watched after a few days (to allow editing) here: SuppoRTT Digital Online Resources 

Facilitated by Dr Lizy Townshend, Clinical Fellow for Health Education England's Supported Return to Training (SuppoRTT) program; Dr Aimee Manicom, Clinical Fellow for Quality improvement at Health Education England (Thames Valley); Dr Kirsty Smith, SuppoRTT Fellow at Wexham Park Hospital; and Ann Heath, SuppoRTT Manager for HEE Thames Valley.

You will be sent a link to join the event (on Zoom) by email nearer the time. Please feel free to listen along in noisy environments as questions and answers are typed in.  Please note that registration for each day will close one hour before the first session starts.



Return to Work for Medicine and Emergency Medicine trainees in the Severn Region

A mixture of clinical skills, simulation sessions and small group discussions on the challenges and opportunities of returning to work.

Supported Return to Training (Trainee)

The Supported Return to Training (SuppoRTT) programme aims to enable doctors returning to clinical training following a period of prolonged absence to regain their confidence and clinical skills quickly and safely, thereby enhancing trainee wellbeing and patient safety. (Please remember to register for e-LfH first using your nhs.net email).

SuppoRTT funding is available for all doctors in England, with a Foundation or National Training Number, who have had a period of 3months or more out of training.



Supporting Professionals to Support Returning Medical Trainees – Torbay Hospital – Friday 11 December (9.30am to 4pm)  

  • Free regional study day is aimed towards Postgraduate Medical Trainers along with Medical Workforce/Human Resources, Hospital Practice Managers, Postgraduate Team Managers and Occupational Health.
  • A full programme will be available in the next couple weeks.
  • Jointly hosted By Health Education England and Department of Postgraduate Medical Education, Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust
